Wow guys and gals! We, the students of Dean Holland’s, Starting With Marketing Academy are already on module 5, called, ” World Wide Winners”. Time just rushes by, doesn’t it?
In this module Dean taught us how to branch out across the internet to start getting some outside exposure for our blogs. Previously, I mentioned that, “blog hopping” was a way to get people coming to, and commenting on your blog by getting your URL in the comments area of other blogs for other visitors to see and click on. We started blog hopping amongst our own Starting With Marketing group, and now we are going to branch out to other blogs in our same niche.

When you submit a comment the form will ask for your name and URL.

Once you submit, your name becomes a clickable link back to your site or blog.
Dean reminded us that first impressions are everything. Have you ever been to a blog that looks great, only to find nothing in the comments section? What most people assume is that the blog is no good, the content must be terrible and they leave without giving the blog a chance. So what we have done within our Starting With Marketing group is create interest in our blogs by leaving comments for each other, so that people stop, read and realize that our group actually does have interesting things to say.
In module 5 Dean also talked about using forums. He taught that forums are a great source of free traffic, but you have to use them properly as they can make or break you. When you interact in forums you have to guard your reputation by following the rules, interacting with others and providing useful information. Forums are also a place to share your accomplishments with other forum users, this way you build awareness of yourself and your brand. Just remember that you should reciprocate when anyone praises you, or helps you out.
Lastly, but by no means least important, is articles. Articles, which should be about 300 to 500 words long, are basically text written about a specific subject, much like a blog post. To make articles even more effective, you should consider keywords when composing them. A great resource to find the right keywords to use is the Google Keyword Tool. This tool tells you how many times a search was done on Google for a specific word, and it gives you additional ideas for your main keyword. We will use, “dachshund puppies” as an example. The screen shot of the results is posted below.

Google provides information about your keyword and gives you additional keyword ideas.
Of course you do want to submit your articles to as many article sites as you can, but it makes sense to only submit to the sites that are worth submitting to, that are actually going to help your cause. Dean provided a site that reveals the, “Top 50 Article Directories By Traffic & Pagerank”, so this is a resource worth looking at so that you are not wasting your time submitting to article that won’t help your cause. Incidentally, the top three sites are, ezinearticles.com, ehow.com and articlebase.com, so that will give you a great place to start.
There you have it. These are some of the techniques that you can use to gain world wide attention to yourself and to your blog. Remember that reading and studying are important, but taking action is the most important. Action trumps learning any day of the week. Make sure that you learn from your mistakes by, “Failing Forward”, because if you don’t, then you are just standing still, so take action on what I have revealed here today and see the results.
All the best,
Ed

God bless!!
TTYL,
Lisa~
Hi Lisa,
Thanks for stopping by. Yeah, you’re right, “So many blogs so little time”. I am just realizing that planning ahead and scheduling the time is going to be so important for our businesses. I don’t like planning, but we must if we want to succeed.
Also, we have learned a lot in Dean’s course. This whole thing was a God send, and I am so grateful.
Thanks again for stopping by,
Ed
Hey Ed
This is so detailed love the screen shot, I am a visual learner so its great for me. Busy visiting other blogs as well as “Starting with Marketing Group”. Now just got to get involved in more forums.
Keep the great work up.
Believe and Achieve
Cheers Kerie
Hi Kerie,
Thanks for stopping by my blog again. I thought the pictures would help, glad you liked them. I have to do some blog hopping again. It’s been a while. Guilty as charged. Thanks for prompting me to do so. See you at your blog.
Thanks,
Ed
Ed,
I’m impressed! Excellent post! I learned a few things reading your post, like the clickable link that is created when you put your website address into the box for comments. Nice visuals in this post, too! As they say, “A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words.”
Keep up the excellent work, dude!
Mike
Hey Buddy,
I know I will learn from you too, it’s just a matter of time. What’s awesome is that we are applying what we learn, and that is why we have our blogs set up and why we are now building our lists. Onward and upwards, right? Thanks again my friend.
Thanks very much for the compliment. Yoda once said, “Always learning we are”. Ok, he didn’t say that but I’m a Star Wars fan and sometimes I think like Yoda.
All the best,
Ed
Hey Ed,
Awesome pictures very impressive. Tons of value and easy to follow this will help a lot of people for a long time.
Thank you for the link to the article directories it is something I have been looking for.
keep in touch,
Karn
Thanks for the info Ed! I just had another article published over at EZA and I really like how Google LOVES their site for SEO.
Keep in touch we have BIG things getting ready to happen!
Ralph
Thanks Karn. You are doing awesome too, and I know that you will be successful.
Just keep plugging along. I like the term, “Consistent Persistence”. You have to be
consistent in everything that you do, and persistent in the things you do to achieve
your goal or task.
Hope that makes sense.
All the best,
Ed
Hey Ralph,
Thanks for the tip. I am going to have to get into
EZA more. I have not touched it much, but I know that it’s an
important part of what we do. I appreciate the reminder. Hope
all is well with you.
Thanks again,
Ed

Ed,
This is a great post. Definitely clear as a bell. This is a big help on keeping it simple.
It still amazes me at how many people miss the putting of their website into comments.
Talk soon,
Rob
Great tips and post. The visuals make it very intuitive and easy to understand your points. keep up the great work.
Hi Edward ,
A very informative post ,
I met dean two weeks ago at the Lee Mcintyre workshop, up in Manchester.
He’s a great bloke and he sure knows his stuff .
Hey Ed You have put a lot of effort into this post and it shows, great screen shots,

Mick
Hi Ed,
Love this post it’s very easy to follow and the screen shots are a great idea.
I think you just gave me an idea for my next blog post.
Your blog looks great Ed keep up the good work.
Cheers,
Nick
Hey Ed!!
Loads of great information there! You hit the nail on the head with regards to generating traffic, but also having worthwhile content that people comment on – exactly as you’ve done with this post!
Keep up the great work – and I’ll be back to read more from you!
Iain.
Hey Ed,
Great post!!! You make some great points and it’s so right what you say about blog traffic generation, especially with blog hopping and using forums.
As you point out it’s important for people to be active in forums and add value by interacting and not just spamming your wares, the same can be said of blogs. There’s nothing worse than seeing posts and comments from people that are simply spamming!
Anyway – great work on the video and blog! I look forward to reading more from you soon.
Iain.
Ed,
Time to get back on track my friend!!!!!
Hi Darren. Thanks so much for stopping by my blog. I’m getting back on track here soon. I took a job to help a friend. The job was supposed to last for two weeks, and it started in Oct. Yeah, uh… it barely ended this month. I will be blogging about it soon. All the best to you my friend!
Ed
Hi Iain,
Thanks for stopping by. I know it has been a while, but I will be blogging about the reason that I have been out of the loop recently. I’M BACK! And very happy about it.
Thanks again,
Ed
Thanks again Iain. You Sir, are a World Wide Winner! See you at your blog.
Ed
Thanks Nick! Did you write the blog post you were talking about. Let me know. I’m glad that I could inspire you. See you at your blog.
All the best,
Ed
Thank you Russ. I’m back and I’ll be posting more. Please let me know if I can help you out.
Sincerely,
Ed
Thanks Rob. Yeah. When I used to surf the net I had no idea. Live and learn. I hope this helps some people out.
All the best,
Ed
Have to confess my blog is like a ghost town … but its simply due to a lack of time put into it. Right now I try and drive most of my traffic straight to a squeeze page however I really should get my backside in gear and put some newer content up weekly.
Thanks for kicking my ass and highlighting it!!
Al
Hi Allen,
Thank you for popping by my blog. Yeah, I would just love to see everyone succeed. Life happens, and we do get busy, don’t we? Please let me know if I can help you out at all.
All the best,
Ed
