Dean Holland released his third module today. The module is called, “Traffic Tanks” and it’s one of the most important steps in the Starting With Marketing Academy training.
In his first video he mentions, and we all know, that the biggest challenge that people have when it comes to internet marketing is driving traffic to their website. This module alone is worth the price of what his students paid for the entire Starting With Marketing Academy.
Dean Holland showed us his Google Analytics account and the fact that he drives 4000+ visitors to his site every month, basically on autopilot. He also mentioned that you want, “targeted traffic”, coming to your website. For example, if you are in the dog niche, and someone comes to you blog looking for information on beauty products, how long do you think that visitor will stay on your site? Not long. But if you drive, “targeted traffic” to you blog, people actually looking for what you are offering, and you give them valuable blog information via your blog posts, this will put money in your pocket. Traffic equals money.

Now that's traffic!
In another video by Dean Holland he talks about the different types of traffic you can use. Basically there are two types of traffic, paid and free. Dean only uses, at this point in time, free traffic techniques. Included in the list of free techniques are, Twitter (social media), forums, blog hopping, search engines and push button traffic. I will touch on some of these techniques for you.
If you know anything about Dean Holland then you know that because of his online activities he, within eight months, was able to quit his job in construction to make a full time living online with internet marketing. One of the techniques that enabled him to do this was, “blog hopping”. This is where you visit blogs in your chosen niche, and leave useful comments on them. When you do this, your name also appears as a valuable link to your website within your comment; therefor, people can read your comment and click on your name. Furthermore, search engines love it when a there are links that point back to your website, and this helps in your search engine rankings too. Again, please understand that this tip that I’m sharing with you is a gem that you must implement in your online activities if you want to be successful in online marketing.
Dean also mentioned Twitter and how to use it to drive traffic back to your website. I will just say that to do this you want to be certain that you have your website address and a compelling bio entered into the profile of your Twitter account. You can take a look at mine as an example here.
Next, in our Traffic Tanks module, Dean talked about SEO, or Search Engine Optimization. This is another technique that is absolutely free. Something that I did not expect Dean Holland to say was that he does not intentionally write a blog post to try to get ranked in search engines for a particular phrase or word. Dean mentioned that when you’re first starting out you should write your blog posts naturally, especially on your personal blog, and you don’t want to be writing your post with the search engines in mind. Dean stated that if you write your blog posts naturally you will, over time, start picking up search engine traffic anyway.
Dean did say that if you have a niche site though, this is when you would start writing your post peppered with your specific keyword. For example, if your niche is the, “rusty spotted cat”, that might be the keyword that you are targeting in your post and you would place that phrase in your blog post several times. This is just one factor that affects search engine optimization; however, we were advised to write naturally for now.
Dean Holland did not leave the SEO subject at that though, he teased us with another surprise. Dean has a guest speaker lined up for us, whose expertise is search engine optimization and traffic. This special guest will be teaching us more about optimizing our sites for the search engines via webinar. I can’t wait, and I will fill you on on the details when the time comes.
There you have it. Just a few ideas to take with you and implement in your own internet marketing. I hope that these techniques help you, as they will help students of the Starting With Marketing Academy, drive traffic to your site. When I learn more, you will learn more, so please come back frequently as we take this adventure together.

Hey Ed.
How’re you doing Buddy…?
Hey Guy…I’ve got to complement you on your post, you’ve done an AWEsome job … you must have got a lot of value out of the “Traffic Tanks” module.
Now we’ve got to put it into action and key to that is being consistant.
Keep up the good work …see you in the forums.!!
Malcolm.t.
Hey!! Ed!!
Glad you spelled it out! Haven’t had a sec to see the videos! I have a date with the Computer tonight to watch them all! Woo-Hoo! I am so excited to get some TRAFFIC!!
Thinking about a BURRITO niche!! What do you think??
HAHAHA
Take care and God bless!!
Lisa
Hi Lisa.
Thank you for your comment. Good I’m glad it made sense to you.
The videos are great, as usual. You will love them.
As for the Burrito thing I think that’s a great idea.
How about this, this just came to me. Sushirrito!
I love sushi and I love burritos.
Thanks again,
Ed
Hi Malcolm.
Consistency it the key to everything. It took me a long time to realize.
You can’t just work out one time and expect to have a great body for the rest of your lives, just like you can’t expect to do one blog post and have residual income forever either.
If we are consistent, the rewards will come to us in whatever we do.
Thanks very much for the comment.
Thanks,
Ed
Hi Ed, Nice post. I also enjoyed the traffic tanks module and looking forward to getting more people visit my blog. Hopefully soon we’ll be able to get the same numbers as our main man Dean gets on his blog. Good Luck buddy.
Steve
Hi Steve.
Thanks for the comment.
We will get that traffic soon. We will be successful.
Consistency is key, and we will do it!
Thanks again,
Ed
Hi Ed
How are you doing? Great post..your right Ed driving traffic to a website needs Consistency, it will take time but it will be worth it in the end.
I can’t wait for the guest speaker would be nice to learn more about search engine optimization
Avis
Hi Avis. Thanks for your comment.
I cannot wait for our guest speaker either. SEO seems elusive sometimes, and it will be nice to have some light shed on it.
This whole process is great, and I mentioned that it’s like waiting for Christmas to come while we wait for the next module.
Let be consistent and succeed together as a group. We will do. If we believe, we will achieve!
Thanks again,
Ed
Great post Ed–read your Week 3 review here since I have STILL not had time to see TT week 3 video. Take care,
Ralph
Hi Ralph.
Thanks for your comment. If I can help you in anyway please let me know.
You can email me directly via the forum.
Thanks again,
Ed
Driving traffic to your site is often the most difficult part of creating a successful blog. With that said I would certainly like to hear a bit more about the techniques he told you about. What more than regular SEO and Twitter?
Hi Stefan,
Thank you for the visit and your comment / question. Dean mentioned what he like to call blog hopping, which is basically visiting other sites in your own niche and leaving a valuable comment. When you do this it creates a backlink to your site and there’s a chance that people reading the blog will click on your name to go to your website.
He also briefly mentioned forums, which he will talk about in more detail in a later lesson, and push button traffic. Push button traffic is basically traffic that is created once you have grown your list. This is when you send out an email to your list, which causes them to come to your site.
I hope this was helpful. Please come by again soon as I will be creating more posts. By the way, your blog is nice and clean and I look forward to reading some of your posts soon.
Thanks again,
Ed
Hi Ed,
I’m going to watch module 3 this week and put into action what Dean teaches.
So far I’ve had more success driving traffic to my squeeze page through videos than getting traffic to my blog. But I’ll figure it all out, I mean how to get traffic from different sources and build our list and business at the same time is what it’s all about.
Regards,
Rob
Hi Rob,
Thanks for stopping by my blog. I’m sure that videos work best. Video is king right now and you know what you’re doing. Especially using TGeyser. I’ll be making more videos myself. Thanks again for your eBook, it helped a lot.
All the best,
Ed
Hey Ed,
Great summary of Dean’s training. I’ve been using the methods that Dean advocates in the last few weeks and although I’m not at 4000 visitors a month (yet) I am definitely seeing visitors dropping by. I love twitter now despite only starting a couple of weeks back and I enjoy the blog commenting.
As mentioned above, just keep doing these things. It is easy to see the traffic drop back when you stop taking action. We are still trying to push that boulder off the hill but once it goes there;s no stopping it.
Best of luck Ed,
Andy
Hi Andy,
Thanks very much for the encouraging words. I like to look past the boulder to the top of the hill; otherwise, if I look at the boulder without looking at my outcome, then it will roll back and crush me. We WILL be successful. I know that you are ahead of me as the Alex Jeffreys training started at lease a couple of weeks ago, but if I can ever help you out, please let me know.
All the best,
Ed
PS – Your site looks great!
Ed
Super description of traffic building–I check my Google ANalytics daily now!
Looking forward to your review on Module 4…
I just watched it and got the squeeze page done (kind of hidden under the My Websites tab) and the Opt-in Form and Aweber link–woohoo!
Best,
Ralph
Hi Ed
nice site by the way. Talking about traffic, another good way I find is contributing regularly on various forums. My favourite one is the warrior forum. Its a very busy forum and great place to meet like minded people.
I was part Alex jeffreys coaching program last year, so I know that your in good hands with Dean.
Good luck
Andy
Hi Ralph,
Thanks for stopping by and thanks for the compliment.
I see that you moved your link to the top of the page. Wow. Your blog looks great, very professional looking.
Isn’t this whole process fun? I’m looking forward to more from you, and from the rest of the members of the
Academy. Don’t let anything stop you. “Fail Forward” when you must, and success will come.
All the best,
Ed
Hi Andy,
Thanks for the tip. I actually signed up for the Warrior Forum, but have not posted yet, I will though, very soon. I have posted two articles at eZineArticles, one is pending. Thank you so much for sharing the WF tip, I hope that I can help you out sometime soon.
Thanks again,
Ed
it is really hard to build massive traffic on a website. you need to promote your website by blog commenting or PPC advertising`;,
Blog commenting like you just did? Nice! As for pay per click advertising, it’s something that you really need to study and know otherwise you can lose a lot of money in a very short period of time. Thanks for popping by, and best of luck to you.
All the best,
Ed
Hey Ed, sounds like you are getting some top training from Dean, look forward to more of your posts.
Sally
Hi Sally,
Yeah. For sure. Thanks for popping by my blog. Let me know if you need anything.
All the best,
Ed
