Never Give Up!

They say that if you want to be successful you should surround yourself with successful people.  As I think about the students in our Starting With Marketing Academy I already feel that I have surrounded myself with successful people.  If we follow Dean’s lead by taking action we will all be successful online, but remember to never give up.

I am a little league baseball coach, and it’s one of my favorite things to do in the whole world.  When I look into the eyes of a new team every year I see potential for greatness in each and everyone; however, it makes me sad to know that many of those young men are not going to reach their true potential.  Many of them will give up, and settle for less than they can be.

The game of baseball is a wonderful thing, but winning games is never my focus at the start of the season.  There is a bigger picture that many coaches don’t see.  The little league pledge says, “win or lose, we will always do our best”, and we always should.  What matters to me as a baseball coach is that these kids put on their thinking caps, and I do my best to get them thinking and visualizing their true potential.

We have motivational sayings that I teach them at the beginning of the season.  For example, “DIMITT”, stands for, “Determination Is More Important Than Talent”.  Another one we use is, “It’s not how you start, it’s how you finish.”  But my all time favorite saying that our team uses is actually my signature at the bottom of all my posts and it says, “Your success depends on how many times you can fail and keep trying.”

Baseball is a game of failure.  In fact, the best batters in baseball fail 70% of the time, talk about wanting to quit.  I have also found that life can be a game failures too sometimes, and many adults give up before attaining their goals.  Most of you reading this post are not children; therefore, let’s put on our thinking caps.  How many tries would you give a child to walk before you told them to forget it and crawl the rest of their lives?  Did you give up trying to walk?

My point is that in baseball, internet marketing, or life in general we should Never Give Up.  The saying that keeps me going is at the bottom of this post.  What is the saying or quote that keeps you motivated?

Finally, think about something for a second.  Imagine how many people set a goal, went for it, and ultimately quit.  Now imagine how many of those people were steps, days, hours or even minutes away from success, but they gave up.

I want people who read this blog to be successful.  In fact, I want deserving people who don’t read this blog to be successful.  Whether you take the journey with me, or with someone else, stay the course and fail until you succeed at whatever your goal may be.  “Our success depends on how many time we can fail and keep trying.”

Take care Ed, see you around! :)

Lisa~

Well said Edward,

We all have failures from our past and it’s up to us how we deal with them. We can choose to give it all up or we get back up and dust ourselves and get going again.

Yeah Huddson. Thank you so much for your reply. I try to get the kids I coach to develop great habits like not giving up. So many, including adults, quit when they are so close. Best of luck to you.

Thanks,

Ed

Hi again Lisa,
Thanks for your comment. I always keep my ears open for quotes or phrased that will get my players thinking. Of course, it gets me thinking too. I know you will be a success at this too, just keep at it.

Thanks,

Ed

Well put together Ed,

It’s so true that many people give up before they reach their true potential.

As I have heard many times from different people, when most give up they were just about to make it.

They let to many failures get in the way of success!

Alan

I was actually an Alex Jeffreys student and at the end of the course did not know what to do and u could say ‘gave up’.. then I was getting hammered with Dean Hollands emails and i went stuff it im Comming back onboard and this time im back with full force..!

i Look foward to chattn to u Ed!! Your blogs gewd!

Hi Adrian!
Thanks for your comment.
Oh please do not give up. You can do it!
I don’t know if you saw my signature at the bottom of my blog, but if you didn’t, it says this:

“Your success depends on how many times you can fail and keep trying.”

I have failed, and so have you, but remember that quote. Also remember this:

“The past does not equal the future.”

Now you will create your future. You know why you failed, now you can change it my friend.
I look forward to seeing your success.
Never, ever give up!

All the best,

Ed
