Have you ever had one of those day? You’re late to an appointment. Your car runs out of gas. You bounce a check. You… “fill in the blank”. I have. That’s when I stop and think about all the things that I’m grateful for in my life, and stop thinking about the things that might going wrong, that will soon pass anyway. That’s also when I intentionally stop and consciously create an, “attitude of gratitude”.
I coach little league baseball, and over the years I have noticed that kids and, many times, coaches act like it’s the end of the world when something doesn’t go their way during a game. This is why, before we even have our first practice, I give the kids on my team a homework assignment. I ask them to watch the video below, and answer some questions. Once they have done their homework, I ask them to remember Nick when they think things are going bad for them during a game, but especially during the challenges in their day to day life.
I’ll stop at that. The video speaks for itself. Nick is inspirational, and if you are ever down in the dumps or you’re facing something you consider “difficult”, then I challenge you to think of Nick an create for yourselves an, “attitude of gratitude”. Once you are grateful, then you can succeed.

Hey Ed! There’s a lot of truth in what you’re saying here. If I worry about everything that is going wrong, I never have time to do anything else! I always try to take time out to be grateful, and I do have a lot to be grateful for.
As hard as it is sometimes, we still have to put one foot in front of the other and do the next right thing. If we keep doing that, each step gets easier and easier.
Thanks for the visit Brian. So true. “You become what you think about” is what Earl Nightingale says. I have known some pretty miserable people in my life, and when they open their mouths, you know what their thoughts are.
If you never learn anything else from me Brian, always remember this… Think Positive! Y = |X|.
JK. I know that’s yours.
Thanks again,
Ed
Wow ED what a great video. I guess my problems aren’t as big compared to others. Thanks for the inspiration buddy. Have a great day.
Steve.
Thanks Steve. I appreciate the visit. Yup. It’s rare person than can really look at how good they have it.
All the best my friend,
Ed
Ed,
I am just speechless. What a powerful testimony, and what a blessing Nick is. He deals with more challenges in the first 15 minutes of his morning than people do all day (including me).
Thanks for the post. I am better for it!
Tammie
Thank you Tammie. He is a blessing isn’t he. I’m so glad that you can appreciate it. I can’t even imagine what my mind would go through if I was in the same situation as Nick. I’m glad you really understood.
Thank you Tammie,
Ed
Hi Ed! Great video! again!!Glad he is sharing The Word with the world! God bless him! Oh, If we could all have that kind of faith in the Lord!!
thanks for sharing this video with us!
Lisa~
Hi Lisa. I knew you would like it. I can’t imagine what it would be like. I imagine that without an example it would be difficult, even with an example it’s difficult. But with Him all things are possible.
Thanks,
Ed
Hi Ed and Flo,
Nick was such an inspirational!! Little Lucky was very much like Nick too as she didn’t give up life with cataract and heart problem…..she still looked for milk in the morning and ate her Pedigree dinner with a great attitude despite her condition.
I’m grateful u are showing us this video as I’m others will be inspired by Nick too.
Huddson
What a touching video. People sometimes forget the blessing in their life when they’re faced with debilitating situations.
All of a sudden, I felt full gratitude for all the blessing in my life.
Wow, Ed I am blown away, so powerful. I have worked with people with all types of disabilities from brain damage to physcial damage and I always amazed at how they get on with life. They never moan and always seem to smiling.
I wake everymorning and say thank you, I am so grateful for everything I have and what I will achieve today.
Thanks
Kerie
Hi Kerie,
Thank you for coming by my blog and leaving such a nice comment.
Lots of time we can get down in the dumps and not realize what we really
have been blessed with in our lives. We are wealthier than 90% of the
people who live on this earth, and sometimes we forget that. Sometimes
we can look around and say, “woe is me”. When material things are not
all that important.
You are a blessing to those people that you help, and that is wonderful.
I am grateful to have met you through this program. Thank you so much.
All the best,
Ed
Hi Walter,
Thanks for popping by my blog. I’m glad to hear that
the video was inspirational. We are very lucky in life. Just the
fact that we have computers makes us some of the materially
wealth people on earth, but I believe it’s what’s inside that
counts as well as friend, family and health.
All the best,
Ed
Hi Huddson,
Nice to see you back on track. I love my dog so it’s hard for me to
imagine what you have been going through. I’m glad that you like this video
and you were inspired by Nick. Can you imagine how hard it would be, at least
for me, to live like that. When I see that video I feel very lucky.
Thanks again Huddson,
Ed
Ed,
Great post. So true with the Attitude of Gratitude, in the books of “The Secret” and “The Science of Getting Rich” a large time was given to Gratitude.
I am ex baseball rec and travel coach. I love your idea of having the players watch that video.
To our success…..
Richard
Hi Richard,
Thanks for the comment. You and I know what’s important when we are coaching. It’s not the game, wins or losses, but the lives of the kids we coach. The parents love that I do that too, thank God, and I hope to help others with what I am learning in Dean Holland’s Academy. I consider myself a life coach, because I care. If I can ever help you, please don’t hesitate to let me know.
By the way, I love your tag line… “There is only on Crooke online I know that gives more than he takes.” That’s awesome!
All the best and to YOUR success,
Ed
Excellent advice Ed. I’ve always tried to get my kids to realize that they have more blessings to be thankful for than most other people in the history of the world.
I always try to remeber that when I am having a bad day or time in my life. Compared to people waking up wondering if they will even have a meal today or whether they will be killed for no reason like many millions of people have to deal with every day our problems are nothing.
Thank you Bob and God bless you. Keep up the great video blogs?
Ed
Hi Ed,
This is a such wonderful video which should remind all of us just how fortunate we are. Too many times, we dwell on such trivial things and from time to time, we all need a wake up call to realize just what we HAVE, and stop thinking about what we do not have. I have been following some of the same spiritual teachers as you have, it seems. I read anything that I can get my hands on about positive thinking and the Laws. People need to understand that negativity, breeds negativity. The whole world would be a nicer place to live if people put more emphasis on being grateful for what is in their life right now, and not constantly complaining about what eludes them.
It seems to me that ANY parent of those little-leaguer’s that you coach should be GRATEFUL to you, because you are teaching them a lesson that they will carry with them for the rest of their lives.
I wish you the very best, Ed-take care!
Joann
